On the Cluster Support Program of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, General Directorate of Industrial Zones provided training on informing Rize to public institutions and organizations. At the end of the training, a decision was taken to establish a tea cluster in Rize and to apply for this support program.
The purpose of the Cluster Support Program is; cluster coexistence is to be strengthened in order to promote the effective cooperation.
Although our country is among the world's largest producers of tea, except for some exceptional years until now, it has not got a share in the potential of world tea exports. The most important factors underlying the irrigation of our country's tea exports are the difficulties in achieving a competitive feat and the inadequacies of quality and marketing awareness that will lead to an international competitive environment.
This program will contribute to the competitive power of the tea sector by creating an effective cluster in Rize's most important source of income. It will also ensure that the Turkish tea sector's competitiveness will be transformed into a more environmentally friendly and collective industry structure, with increased innovation and productivity, greater share of global exports, a qualified workforce.
The clustering program in the tea sector, which will be carried out under the coordination of Rize Commodity Exchange, will be realized with 20 leading companies in the tea sector.
